Our Solution
The solution to the Child Bride crisis is closer than we think, we receive it everyday and yet we take it granted. It's Education. Most of the children in these countries don't know that it is illegal to be wed under the age of 18, they continue with the ceremony because of lack of education in laws that prevent them from entering this life commitment.
UNICEF has already taken the intuitive of starting a program which educates the youth in the prevention of the Child Bride Epidemic, UNICEF works with communities to raise the age of marriage and address gender discrimination through awareness raising and community discussions at local and national levels and assists governments in strengthening national legislation, policies and services.
Another way of preventing the child marriages across the world is to give them an independent option such as a job, employment will give them an economy they can fall back on instead of the need to be married.

How Can You Help?
Even thought this is happening mostly on the other side of the world you can still help. You can spread the word and educate the public, the more it is being publicly exposed the more likely the higher authorities will do something about it. You can mail letters to our Government and appeal for educating those in areas which practise child marriage.
The Child Protection Project, a project founded by Linda Walker, is fighting hard for child protection and one of their main focuses is the rights of children including the prevention of child marriages. The Executive Director, Flora Jessop was personally effected by a cult which she eventually escaped but her sister wasn't as lucky. Her 14 year old sister Ruby was married to her Stepbrother and later disappeared. She pleaded to the Utah Authorities but nothing was done to save her sister, this injustice can be stopped if we bring awareness to the public.
