Trend it?
The Child Marriage Trend is decreasing in most countries although it is still highly practised. 100 million girls under the legal age of 18 are to be married in the next decade. A large factor to the decrease in Child Marriage is the religious beliefs across the globe, religion being a primary reason behind Child Marriage. Muhammad, an Islamic Prophet, married his 9 year old wife Aisha when he was 51 and it was all arranged. Thus began arranged Child Marriages, it has trended throughout the Islamic culture and is still an issue with the world 1000 years later.
Countries like Iran aren't getting any better though, hundreds of girls are being married under the age of 10 and it is expected to increase. There was a 30% increase in Child Marriages between 2006 and 2009, the Iranian Parliament is now legalising marriage from the age of 9 in attempt to lower child marriage.
The future tells us that it will decrease slowly but the issue will eventually diminish but it all depends on how we act now and whether the governments of each country makes the right decisions.
